If you’re looking for a home in Arlington, or anywhere in Northern Virginia, you know the choices are more limited than ever. In February of this year, the active real estate inventory in Arlington went down 39 percent from the last year, reports Long & Foster. In Alexandria, there was a 51 percent decrease. Prince William County, Fairfax County, and Loudoun County saw a decrease of 16 percent, 14 percent, and 13 percent respectively, as well.
Realtors around the area are referring to this as the Amazon effect. Statistics show that desirable properties are finding buyers almost as soon as they hit the market. Home prices in Arlington and DC saw a 5 percent, and 2 percent increase, respectively. Alexandria, however, saw a 7 percent decrease.
