So, apparently teachers don’t really like their job, says the research. Nationally, about 8 percent of teachers leave the profession every year. In the DC area, the number jumps up to 13 percent. This is very concerning for administrators in the area because they think this will result in a shortage of teachers.
A local news team did a survey of about 5000 teachers in the area and found that 4 out of every 5 of them has thought about leaving their job at some point. The main reasons cited were student behavior, lack of support, and too much stress associated with the job.
